Rainbow Six Siege's Y11S2.2 Patch Legalizes Mouse and Keyboard on Console, With a Catch

Ubisoft's Y11S2.2 mid-season update for Rainbow Six Siege, published July 14, adds native mouse and keyboard support on consoles, and the restriction attached to it is the whole story: M&K console players get matched exclusively into the PC crossplay pool. Console players who plug in a mouse now fight PC opponents instead of controller users, get access to text chat, and Custom Games gain an Input Device toggle. That design answers Siege's decade-long XIM problem, where adapter users spoofed mouse input as controller signals to farm easier console lobbies.

The balance half of the patch centers on Jäger, who returns to 3-speed after years as a 2-speed, trading 2 health for 1 in exchange. His 416-C gets reduced vertical recoil, smoother lateral recoil, and recoil evolution that now starts at bullet 10 instead of 8. Wamai gets the biggest gadget rework: MAG-NET charges refresh every 20 seconds instead of 40, the cap rises from 6 to 7, activation time drops from 1.5 to 0.5 seconds, and his loadout swaps Impact Grenades for C4 plus a Deployable Shield.

Dokkaebi takes the patch's one meaningful nerf. Her Logic Bomb cooldown doubles from 7 to 14 seconds and now runs per target rather than as one global timer. Smaller buffs land on Zofia, who goes from 2 to 3 concussion and impact grenades each, Rauora, Melusi, Twitch, and Lesion.

The 1v1 Arcade playlist also returns for two weeks with Coastline, Consulate, and Outback replacing House, prep phase cut from 30 to 15 seconds, and Montagne, Blackbeard, Blitz, and Clash banned from the mode, per siege.gg's breakdown.

I think the M&K change matters more than every balance line in this patch combined, because it converts an anti-cheat arms race Ubisoft was losing into a matchmaking rule it controls. I'd expect the real test in the coming weeks to be whether XIM users accept the PC pool or keep spoofing controller input to stay in console lobbies, since the patch legalizes the hardware without removing the incentive to cheat with it.
