Ubisoft Updates on Anti-Cheat and Anti-Toxicity Measures in Rainbow Six Siege
Ubisoft recently shared a positive update on its ongoing efforts to combat cheating and toxic behavior in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, issues that became more prominent during the game's ninth year.
In February, Ubisoft pledged to strengthen player protection systems for Rainbow Six Siege. Among the initiatives highlighted were improved ban enforcement and the introduction of technologies like MouseTrap, a console feature designed to detect mouse and keyboard use. Now, Ubisoft has released a report detailing the recent performance of its anti-cheat and anti-toxicity systems.
In its latest Player Protection Update, Ubisoft noted a significant drop in cheating among high-rank players with the launch of Y9S3, the newest season released in September. Following the season's start, cheat-related incidents dropped for nearly a week, accompanied by a sharp decline in player reports of cheating. Ubisoft also shared that MouseTrap has improved in detecting unauthorized devices, with fewer false positives due to a recent update. Bans reached a peak of over 11,000 last season, eventually settling just under 9,500 as Y9S3 rolled out.

Ubisoft is also focused on finalizing MouseTrap tests for certain devices not yet recognized by the system. Additionally, the company is preparing to launch crossplay for PC and console next season, along with a crossplay-integrated version of MouseTrap. A new version of Ubisoft’s custom QB System—designed to hinder cheat development—is also in testing by the development team.
With Y9S4 expected in December, Ubisoft plans to implement a reworked reputation system that tracks both positive and negative player interactions, reports, penalties, and other player behaviors. Automated moderation for text chat is also on the way.
Ubisoft’s latest update follows patch Y9S3.3, released on October 22, which introduced adjustments to operators like Iana, Jackal, Kali, Mozzie, Zero, and Zofia, as well as tweaks to Kali's CSRX-300. Bug fixes were also included, addressing issues with Skopos, the game’s newest operator. Although the next season won't feature a new operator, Ubisoft has confirmed it will be reworking one of the American characters in the game.
