Rainbow Six Siege Is Getting a Massive Overhaul: Siege X Announced
Ubisoft just dropped some big news for Rainbow Six Siege fans — it's getting a huge transformation, starting this March, with something they're calling Siege X. Think of it as a reboot without actually being a new game.
According to Ubisoft, this is "the biggest transformation in the game’s history" aiming to make Siege even more tactical, polished, and, well, exciting. We don’t have all the details yet, but from the teaser, we can see some interesting changes: wall-running while rappelling (finally!), more interactive environmental destruction (shooting a fire extinguisher for cover? Nice.), and even a helicopter that might let us rappel down into maps like in Rainbow Six Vegas.
The full reveal is happening on March 13 at 5 PM GMT/ 12 PM EST, where Ubisoft promises to show off all the new features coming with Siege X. What we do know is that Year 10 Season 1 kicks off on March 4, bringing a new operator named Rauora (who can block doorways with extendable panels), a Hereford Base rework, and over 1400 returning cosmetics to celebrate the game’s 10th anniversary.
There’s also a new Reputation system that lets players rate each other. Good behavior? Extra rewards. Too toxic? You’ll get locked out of playlists and earn less XP. Oh, and Ubisoft made sure to highlight the real game-changer: upgraded wooden studs in maps. Priorities, right?
So, while this isn’t Rainbow Six Siege 2, it definitely feels like Ubisoft is taking a page from Counter-Strike 2’s book — modernizing the game while staying true to its roots. Could this be exactly what Siege needs to stay on top of the tactical FPS scene? We’ll find out soon.
