Blizzard has officially announced that Overwatch 2’s Freja trial period will run from March 21 to March 24, with her full reveal arriving just days before the event. Players can look forward to a hero trailer, motion comic, and gameplay showcase leading up to the highly anticipated playtest.

Overwatch 2’s Spotlight Event Unveils Exciting Content for 2025

During a recent Overwatch 2 Spotlight event, Blizzard teased a wave of upcoming content for 2025, including Season 15’s Perks and Loot Boxes, Season 16’s Stadium game mode, and several new maps in development. The broadcast also revealed the next two heroes joining the roster, including Freja, a Nordic bounty hunter and damage hero, debuting in Season 16.

However, fans won’t have to wait until her official release to experience her abilities. Blizzard confirmed that players will be able to test Freja during a special 72-hour trial from March 21 to March 24.

Thanks to content creators who attended the Spotlight event, fans already have insight into Freja’s unique skillset. Her Revdraw Crossbow is a rapid-fire weapon capable of launching precise explosive bolts via alt-fire. Freja’s mobility is enhanced through her Quick Dash (horizontal movement) and Updraft (vertical movement) abilities.

Her Bola Shot Ultimate traps enemies in an explosive, hindering device, pulling nearby foes into the blast radius. Additionally, her Bounty Hunting passive allows her to reveal enemies, gain extra ultimate charge, and reduce cooldowns on her other abilities.

Freja’s Arrival Marks the Start of Overwatch 2’s Next Era

With Season 15 concluding on April 22, Freja will officially join the roster alongside the launch of Season 16. Meanwhile, Blizzard has teased the arrival of the new support hero, codenamed Aqua, in Season 18, and a mysterious gladiator hero set for Season 20 later this year.

Overwatch 2 players have plenty to look forward to as Blizzard expands its hero lineup and delivers fresh content throughout 2025.
