WGS Phoenix stopped working with Overwatch roster players
The coach of the World Game Star Phoenix team wrote on his Twitter account that the Overwatch team, although it had left the esports club, would still continue to play together and claim to play in the Overwatch League 2022 Season 1 Contenders Korea. On June 8, all six players representing the interests of World Game Star Phoenix in the international arena left the club.
Free agents are Sang-young 'Hidden' Young, Seung-hyuk 'Vulture' Im, Seung-hyun 'RpEN' Lee, Yu-bin 'Yoppin' Son, Do-hyun 'LeGo' Lee and Jay-hwan 'Sley' Kim. Under what tag the e-sportsmen will continue their performances is currently unknown.
2 weeks ago, it was revealed that Chen-hyun 'GR4CE' Park has retired from playing professional Overwatch.
The World Game Star Phoenix roster looked like this:
- Hidden
- Vulture
- RpEN
- Yoppin
- LeGo
- Sley
The latest event that World Game Star Phoenix took part in was the TEN 2022 Overwatch Special Match #2, which had a prize pool of $6,763. Four teams competed in it, and the entire fund was given away to the winners. World Game Star Phoenix have almost reached their goal. The team made it to the final, but lost in the fight against Talon Esports with a score of 1-3. In the last season of Overwatch Contenders 2021 SeAson 2 Korean, the club finished in 6th place and received a $9,250 reward. Probably, because of not the most impressive results, the management decided to free themselves from the obligation to the players.
