Febiven retires from professional League of Legends
24-year-old Dutch League of Legends player Fabian 'Febiven' Dipstraten has announced that he has decided to retire as a professional LoL player. The event was announced on his Twitter account.
As one of the reasons, he cited the loss of hope of returning to the top-level stage. He does not exclude that the teams do not want to cooperate with him because of the dubious decisions that he made:
I made the decision to end my career because my chances of returning to the top team are too low. Partly because of the decisions I've made in my career.
According to Fabian, his desire to play League of Legends has come to naught along with motivation. This was also influenced by his acquaintance with many representatives of the eSports industry, which made him understand that the attitude of people towards each other is distorted even in the field of professional eSports:
In addition, my love for the game has faded, which makes it difficult to stay motivated and try[to return to the top rosters]. Plus, over the years of playing I have met many people from different teams, and to be honest, there are too many of them among them. in whom I have become disillusioned with their work/solutions that are not worth their salaries. <...> As for me, the attitude of people towards each other in the industry is a little distorted.
Fabian Dipstraten believes that the club owners could reduce the costs of the organization if they knew what is really going on behind their backs.
I am sure if club owners saw how their players/coaches work, they would be seriously upset by how much money they spend on it compared to the result. In general, the work ethic in the industry is upsetting - there are very few players who work at 110% daily
Febiven's career began in 2014. Then he played under the H2k-Gaming tag, and a year later he became part of the Fnatic team. There he played so well that he set the record for a streak victory in the European league LEC. Fnatic together with him were able to win 18 matches in a row. In 2017, Febiven's career continued at Clutch Gaming and he switched region from Europe to North America. Later, he decided to return to his native continents to play with Misfits Gaming.
From December last year to July 17, Fabian Distraten played in the ranks of the academic staff of Fnatic, Fnatic Rising.
The most significant victory for the esportsman came at EU LCS Spring 2015, where the team earned a cash prize of $ 50,000. Fabian's most significant achievement can be considered the 3rd-4th place at the 2015 World Championship. Then the team lost to the KOO Tigers with a score of 0-3 and received a cash prize of $ 150,000.
