Dataminer Hints at Possible Voice Chat in League of Legends
A dataminer has shared information from the PBE 16.5 build of League of Legends, revealing a new offense category in the client files labeled “VOICE COMMUNICATION ABUSE.” This could indicate that a full in-game voice chat feature is being prepared.

Currently, voice chat in LoL is only available to players who queue together in a premade party. Communication via voice with random teammates during matches is not supported.
Discussions about a potential voice chat addition have already surfaced on Reddit. Some players welcome the idea, arguing that it would improve coordination, particularly between ADC and support players, especially at higher ranks. Others point out that voice chat would not necessarily solve communication issues and could introduce new forms of toxicity. They also note that the existing ping and text systems already allow players to share key information effectively during matches.
Some community members have raised concerns about moderation, suggesting that voice communication may be harder to regulate. There are also worries that even if voice chat is optional, its availability could create pressure for players to join.
There has been no official comment from Riot Games regarding these files or a potential release of a new voice chat system.
