K'Sante Faces Major Rework: Less Damage, More Durability
Game designer Spideraxe has revealed that K'Sante, considered one of the top-tier top laners in 2023, is set to undergo significant changes.
The development team at Riot Games plans to make several alterations to K'Sante's stats and abilities, aiming to shift the champion from a bruiser to a tank. Despite a low win rate in solo queue, K'Sante has remained a strong presence in professional play due to impressive scaling and teamfighting capabilities. Riot intends to reduce some of his early-game damage, making him more vulnerable during his supposed weakest phase.
One notable change is the removal of passive damage scaling with resistances, compensated by an increase in damage for his abilities. Overall, this results in a reduction in his damage output, with the ultimate ability being the exception, where K'Sante will feel stronger.
Here's a summary of the planned changes for K'Sante:
- Base Health: 570 + 115 (a buff after level 6) instead of 610 + 108
- Armor Growth: Increased from 4.7 to 5.2 (+9 armor at level 18)
- Passive mark no longer scales with 20% bonus resistances during the ultimate (R)
- Q base damage reduced from 50 – 150 to 30 – 150
- RQ (Ultimate ability + Q combo) cooldown reduction: 1 second to 25% of the ability's cooldown
- R bonus Attack Damage: 5 + 32.5% bonus resistances to 15 – 45 + 25% bonus resistances
- R omnivamp: 10% + 0.75% per 100 bonus HP to 10% – 20%
- R now grants 25% – 45% bonus attack speed
- R health: 65% of maximum HP, up from 55%
- R knockback reduced from 350 to 300
- RW (Ultimate ability + W combo) damage reduction: 30% + 1.2% per 100 bonus HP + 12% bonus resistances to 50% – 75% based on level
- RW now reduces cooldown: 24 – 16 seconds to 18 – 12 seconds
- R non-wall damage: 70 – 150 + 100% AP, up from 35 – 105 + 20% AD
- R wall damage: 70 – 150 + 100% AP, changed from 150 – 350 + 20% AD
Please note that these changes are not yet official and may still undergo further adjustments before Patch 13.20 is released on Wednesday, October 11.
