In 2024, League of Legends is planning to host three ranked seasons, and special "Victorious" character skins will also be introduced
Information about the upcoming ranked season was posted on the Chinese website of League of Legends. The main idea for diversifying player interests was to divide the season into multiple parts. Starting from 2024, LoL is planning to hold three splits instead of two, and in each of them, players who have reached a "Gold" rating or higher, or played a sufficient number of matches, will be able to receive a special skin from the "Victorious" series.
When will the second ranked season in LoL end?
The second ranked season in LoL will conclude on November 20, 2023. The preseason period will take place from November 2023 to January 2024. Mechanics changes will be introduced on the testing servers alongside the release of patch 13.21, scheduled for November 21, 2023.
When will the ranked season in LoL start in 2024?
The first split will commence with the release of patch 14.1, scheduled for January 9, 2024. On the same day, offseason changes will be implemented on all servers. The second split is set to begin sometime in May 2024 (exact date yet to be determined). The third split will kick off in September 2024 (exact date also remains unknown).
The blog also mentions that the "Arena" mode will return to League of Legends in December. Currently, this mode is available as part of the "Battle Souls" event, which will conclude on the night of August 29. The developers had previously promised to rework and reintroduce this mode if players enjoyed it, although there are no details about the changes in the material.
Likely, the article on the Chinese League of Legends website was intended to coincide with a developer video but was published prematurely. In July, Vice President of the studio, Andrei "Meddler" van Roone, and MOBA Producer Jeremy "Brightmoon" Lee promised to release a new blog after the conclusion of the "Battle Souls" event. This blog is expected to reveal details about the ranked system, plans for the offseason, and the new champion — Briar.
