Rumors: 2020 champion Nuguri to retire as a player

The big reshuffle in the competitive League of Legends continues. It affected virtually all regions where franchise leagues take place, including South Korea.

Major reshuffles affected almost all clubs and DAMWON Gaming was no exception. Recently, the team announced a new roster, which included the 2022 world champion Deft, and now information about the future of the ex-players of the champion club has appeared on the network.

According to KorizonEsports co-founder Ashley Kang, former DAMWON top runner Jang "Nuguri" Ha-gwon has retired from playing. There was no official confirmation from Jang himself.

The 23-year-old South Korean player spent the last season in the DAMWON lavas, having previously played for FunPlusPhoenix and I Gaming Star. It was DAMWON that brought Nuguri the greatest fame: together with the club, the player became the world champion in 2020, and also won the LCK Summer 2020.

Nuguri's last tournament as part of DAMWON, and potentially in his career, was Worlds 2022. The player took the TOP-8 at the World Championship, losing in the first round of the playoffs to the champions of LCK Summer 2022 represented by Gen.G.
