Galatasaray Esports and Fenerbahçe Esports abandoned League of Legends rosters
Turkish clubs Galatasaray Esports and Fenerbahçe Esports have dropped their League of Legends rosters following recent changes to the Turkish Championship League structure. The decision was made by the organizations following the closure of the TCL professional league and the region joining the common European league LEC.
We don't think the new system is what Fenerbahçe deserves, commented Fenerbahçe Esports representatives
We decided to leave League of Legends after TCL was deprived of a slot on MSI/Worlds, Galatasaray Esports representatives are quoted as saying
The Galatasaray Esports organization has been represented in League of Legends since 2016. For six seasons, the team won TCL Summer 2021, and also made it to the top three at TCL Winter 2019, TCL Summer 2019, TCL Winter 2021 and TCL Winter 2022. In addition, the team took part in the 2021 World Championship.
Fenerbahçe Esports has also been playing in the discipline since 2016. During this time, the team became the champion of Rift Rivals 2017: LCL vs TCL, TCL Summer 2017, TCL Winter 2019 and TCL Winter 2020, and also took part in the 2017 World Championship and Mid-Season Invitational 2019.
Recall that last week, Riot Games introduced a new LEC ecosystem. In terms of changes, the organizers have removed the independent status of the Turkish Championship League, which is why teams from Turkey have lost slots on MSI/Worlds.
