What to expect from LEC Summer 2022 – Week 5?
Already today, in a couple of minutes, the first matches of the fifth week of the LEC Summer 2022 group stage begin. Let me remind you that this is the largest League of Legends tournament in Europe, and €200,000 EUR and three places at Worlds 2022 are at stake. And now I propose to go to the review and analytics for upcoming team meetings.
In general, a rather interesting week awaits us at the LEC, the results of which will already determine the approximate leaders of the groups. For the vast majority of teams right now it can be determined who will come off and who will be left behind. After all, at the end of the 4th gaming week, as many as 4 teams take 3rd place in the leaderboard. And already this, the 5th week, will become a mirror of the first in terms of meetings, where the teams will meet each other for the second time. The only difference will be the order of the matches.
Rogue are back!
The guys have not lost a single match after the first week
Although the order of meetings is changing, one thing remains the same - matches with top-tier teams, Rogue vs Fnatic and Rogue vs G2 Esports are left until the very end of days. As they say: "Sweet - for later!"
Meetings between the three "big favorites" of their region will definitely be the main games of this week at the LEC. I think everyone remembers how Rogue lost both matches in the first week, both G2 and FNC. But immediately after, the team did not lose a single match and now goes with a winstreak of 7 games. The guys are literally bombing the summer, just like the split in the spring. Will Rogue continue their dominance and return the debts for the start of the tournament? Now everything looks exactly like this. After a bit of adaptation, the players from RGE continue to tear and throw in the group stage, as they did at LEC Spring 2022. Obviously, it will not be easy for them against both G2 Esports and Fnatic, but the guys are now in shape, which cannot be said about their two opponents.
What happened to Fnatic, G2 and Excel?
Teams with the best start suddenly started to lose
The start of this split in Europe was opened by G2 Esports and Excel with their phenomenal games, while Fnatic was also not far behind. But the events of the last two gaming weeks are clearly not playing into the hands of the teams. G2 are losing streak 4 games in a row, while XL and FNC didn't win any of the meetings in the last week of the fourth week of the LEC.
It can be assumed that the players have lost a little their original ardor and cheerfulness, fatigue has begun to affect. And defeats because of this still leave a strong mark on their morale. And even though it’s only the middle of LEC Summer 2022, given how even and insignificant the lead is for most teams in the middle of the leaderboard, now is the moment when you need to push and get into the playoffs.
It is not at all known in what form the players of these three teams are in after the last week, where they all lost to teams that are a head and shoulders weaker than themselves. Perhaps they did work on the mistakes and this period was enough for them to gather their courage.
Misfits Gaming and comeback miracles
After starting 0-4, they pulled out 5-4
One of the very good European teams, Misfits Gaming, started this split with a devastating loss to Excel, in which they failed to get a single kill on the enemy champion. After that, we lost to two more weaker teams and ran into Rogue. An incredibly disgusting start to the tournament, you can't argue with that.
However, now the situation has changed radically. The Misfits players, despite this pressure, were able to go on a 5-game winning streak by going through some pretty strong teams. Their last three games have been victories against MAD Lions, Fnatic and G2. This week they will again fight against opponents from the first week and with a high probability "repay the debt".
Astralis are surprisingly good!
For the first time in 4 splits, the team is performing well
Yes, Astralis are now in 8th place out of 10 in the leaderboard of the LEC Spring 2022 tournament. Nevertheless, they go with exactly the same score as G2 Esports: 4-5 in matches and look quite good. If they overtake G2, it will be a sensation!
Taking into account the team's performance in the previous three splits, which are all the tournaments where the young team on the League of Legends pro-scene managed to show itself, now their form is the peak of what we could see before. Many commentators and analysts agree with this opinion and admire how Astralis has grown over the year. I think that they have a very good chance of finishing this split higher than usual, beating at least SK Gaming and Team BDS, leveling with Team Vitality.
