Teams from China will be able to participate in the Mid-Season Invitational 2022 remotely
Riot Games has issued an official statement announcing changes to the format of the Mid-Season Invitational 2022. As a result, a team from China will be able to participate in the championship remotely.
Over the past two years, the global coronavirus pandemic has challenged the LAN tournament landscape in unprecedented ways. At all times, our goal has been to deliver safe, fair events with minimal disruption to the overall experience of fans and professional players. Today, the hurdles associated with pandemic-related travel restrictions are still very real and dynamic, affecting our entire ecosystem.
The organizers said that the team that wins the LPL Spring 2022 will be able to participate in the Mid-Season Invitational 2022 remotely. To do this, the team can use its own training base or arena in Shanghai, designed for matches in the LPL.
Many factors were considered before making this decision, including safety, infrastructure, location, and competitive integrity. In addition to LPL having the infrastructure to maintain the proper format, pings from China to South Korea can be manually adjusted. To keep the competition fair, we will be using a network latency tool to keep the ping as close to 35ms as possible for all teams throughout the competition.
To ensure the integrity of the competition, all MSI participants will be able to train and compete in this tournament, and we will provide referee support and monitoring throughout the tournament in both South Korea and China.
Recall that the teams will not be able to leave Shanghai due to the lockdown introduced at the end of March. Then the first information appeared that local teams might miss the Mid-Season Invitational 2022.
The current line-up of the Mid-Season Invitational 2022 is as follows: G2 Esports, T1, Team Aze, ORDER, DetonatioN FocusMe, İstanbul Wildcats and PSG Talon.
Mid-Season Invitational 2022 will be held from May 10 to 29 in Busan. China will represent one team at the championship, which will be determined based on the results of the LPL Spring 2022.
