Winthrop University has acquired a League of Legends coach
Representatives of the esports club Winthrop University, which was previously known as the Winthrop Eagles, announced the signing of a contract with Daniel 'Dheinzen' Heinzen, who will mentor LoL players.
At the moment, Winthrop University has 8 players. Top and mid are played by Mabud and Avano, respectively. The rest of the playing roles are played by two players from the team. This applies to the bottom lane, support and jungler. Cybersportsmen perform at different times and alternate with each other.
Winthrop University was established on August 22, 2019. In 2.5 years, the LoL team managed to win two tournaments: the LoL collegiate championship and the Nerd Street Gamers 2021 Summer Champs #1. The first place at the League of Legends College Championship 2021 provided the team with the main reward of $50,000, which accounted for 93% of their total earned prize money, but the efforts at Nerd Street Gamers 2021 Summer Champs #1 were valued more modestly, namely $1,500. Other events where they were able to perform more or less well were HUE Invitational 2021 (3rd-4th place and $1,250), LCS Proving Ground Spring 2022 Qualifier 1 (3rd-4th place and $938) and Nerd Street Gamers 2022 Winter Camps #1 (3rd place and $250).
In the hope of improving the results, the club's management decided to conclude an agreement with Daniel 'Dheinzen' Heinzen. He has experience as a mentor at the Cloud9 Training Grounds esports school, and he also coached players from Wildcard Gaming.
The updated Winthrop University League of Legends roster looks like this:
- Mabud
- William 'Mordio' Young
- Jacob 'FrostForest' Chan
- Avano
- GRIMM
- Bradley 'Vex' Miller
- Kenji 'SrKenji' Kaneko
- Koskinen
- Daniel 'Dheinzen' Heinzen
