100thief Coaching Staff Will Be Replenished With Former Terener Cloud9 Mithy
100 Thieves have officially announced how their coaching staff will change for 2022. In which both previous coaches Bok 'Reapered' Han-gyu and Aleš 'Freeze' Kněžínek will remain, and a new but familiar face will be added - Alfonso 'Mithy' Aguirre Rodríguez, former head coach of Cloud9.
The team published the news about this on their twitter account.
Thieves and the Clouds performed well at the LCS, where the former won the victory and the latter finished third, which allowed both teams to go to Worlds 2021. However, already on it, the C9 showed themselves better. Hundred Thieves got into one of the most difficult groups because of which they could not go beyond the group stage, while with the huge help of Mithy, the "clouds" advanced to the playoffs from the alleged "death group". Dissatisfied with their performance at the 100th Thieves World Championship, they decided to hire an experienced and familiar coach.
The former Spanish pro player is best known in his G2 Esports career as a support role, showing consistent and productive play. And despite being based in the European Region, in 2018 he made his first visit to America as a TSM player. And already in 2020 he returned as the head coach for Fnatic.
During coaching, Fnatic Mithy proved his competence as a coach - for his leadership, the team reached the LEC finals twice and even showed a good result at Worlds 2020.
By 2021, Mithy was hired by Cloud9 as a strategic coach, and after the players in blue won the LCS Spring 2021, they were promoted to head coach.
But the new year is a new team for Mithy. In 2022, he will strengthen the already powerful coaching staff of 100 Thieves, which has proven its strength in previous years. One of the main strengths of the new Thieves coach will be his view of the game as a former pro-scene player.
Well, it will be extremely interesting to see what the team achieves for the leadership of such eSports giants. By the way, we will be able to see them in action next month at LCS.
