Remedy Confirms Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake Is In Full Production Now

We haven’t heard anything about Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake since it was announced in 2022. Earlier rumors claimed the game was actively in development, and a recent financial report now backs that up.

Remedy Entertainment, the game’s developer, shared its latest financial report this week. It focused mainly on Control Resonant, but the studio also confirmed that Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake is in full production. That means we may see the game fully unveiled next year. Earlier reports claimed the game is also planned for release in 2027.

Max Payne 1 & 2 Remakes could finally launch in 2027!

• Remedy's full remakes of both classics have been in full production since 2024, with a 2027 release now looking possible.
• Both games are being rebuilt as a single title for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
• Remedy previously indicated that projects of this scale typically require 1–2 years of full production, followed by around 6 months of testing.
• Rockstar controls publishing and public announcements, meaning Remedy can't reveal much about the project.
• We could finally see gameplay and get a release date after GTA 6 launches.

Speaking of Control Resonant, Remedy's financial report confirmed that the game was a huge success for the studio, nearly tripling its quarterly revenue. The game also became the fastest in the studio's history to sell 1 million copies.

No details about Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake have been revealed yet, except that it will use the same engine as Alan Wake II and Control, the Northlight Engine, so we can expect impressive graphics. Swedish actor Alec Toselli’s resume also revealed he is involved in the game, in a supporting role.

Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake is in development for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5. The release date is currently unknown.
