Battlefield 6 Server Browser Arrives Early, With First Players Getting Access After November 10

Battlefield Studios has announced that the Server Browser is coming to Battlefield 6 earlier than planned. It was originally scheduled for Phase 3 of Season 5, but the developers will now begin a staged rollout right after Phase 2 and the Casino Heist update launch on November 10.

The developers want everything to run smoothly ahead of the holidays, so the browser will launch in two stages. First comes a limited public scale test. A small group of players will get access, and the studio will check server loads, queues, and matchmaking performance under live conditions. Once the test wraps up and any necessary fixes are in, the browser will roll out to all players worldwide. The whole process should take a couple of weeks, although the exact timeline will depend on the test results.

The browser will be easy to find. It will be the first tile in the Quickplay row and will take you straight to the Official servers tab. Portal will also get separate tiles for community servers.

Official Battlefield Studios servers and servers hosted by players will be listed together in one place. You’ll be able to filter servers by map or mode and sort them by ping, player count, name, or Recommended. Every official server will award full XP, weapon mastery, and challenge progression, just like standard matchmaking. Persistent lobbies are coming too, so you can stay on the same server match after match with your squad without going back to the main menu.

If you still can’t find a server with comfortable ping even with the new browser, try IceVPN. The service has more than 80 servers around the world and works for all competitive games. As we showed in our guide How To Fix High Ping in CS2, it can cut your ping by a factor of three.

All servers will be split across three tabs:

  • Official: official studio servers and player-hosted servers running official templates, with full progression.
  • Verified: community experiences in Portal built on verified presets, with full XP.
  • Custom: heavily modified Portal experiences with custom scripts, with partial XP.

Official player-hosted servers run on dedicated servers, so the host doesn’t need to stay in the game to keep the server online. Empty servers still show up in the browser, but matchmaking will only start sending players there once at least one person has joined. A server with no players will be delisted after seven days.

Servers running modes that are currently available in the main menus, such as Conquest or Breakthrough, will automatically get players from matchmaking. Servers with other modes will need to be filled by the hosts themselves through the browser or with help from the community.

If you join a server through the browser, you can stay on it for as many rounds as you like. Players who join through Quickplay will automatically be moved to a different server after the round if that server runs the same map 24/7. This way, the developers make sure they don’t get stuck in a single-map loop.
