Mafia 2: Definitive Edition Is Rumored to Release on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S Next Month

Earlier this month, 2K and Hangar 13 released updates for Mafia III on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S to mark the game’s 10th anniversary, and Mafia: The Definitive Edition had received a similar update prior to that. It looks like something similar will happen with the second installment next month.

As noted on social media by Wiseguy Central, SteamDB has revealed files indicating that an update is currently in active development. According to an insider, Mafia 2: Definitive Edition will be available on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S next month, featuring a number of technical improvements. Additionally, the PC version is also expected to receive a similar patch with updates. Previously, the game received an ESRB rating for current-generation consoles.

Mafia II: Definitive Edition is rumoured to release in November for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series with 60 FPS gameplay and bug fixes. SteamDB updated today with internal test builds. Earlier this month, Mafia 2 DE was listed on ESRB for current gen consoles.

Hangar 13 continues to actively develop the franchise. This summer, Mafia: The Old Country, which was released last year, received a story DLC featuring Ennio Salieri, one of the most important characters from the original game. Additionally, they released Mafia: The Omertà Collection —a complete bundle of the series.

According to rumors, the studio is already working on a new installment that will serve as a sequel to The Old Country, and a Mafia 2 remake is also in development based on Unreal Engine 5.
