Hangar 13 Is Working on a Mafia 2 Remake and Sequel to Mafia: The Old Country
Since Hangar 13 confirmed that the studio is working on the next installment of Mafia following the impressive success of last year’s Mafia: The Old Country, rumors have recently begun circulating not only about a new game but also about a remake of the franchise’s second installment.
The recent report Mafia Game Videos provides an exciting update, as it reveals that Hangar 13 is now working on both Mafia 2 Remake and the sequel to Mafia: The Old Country. The media clarifies that the studio recently recorded audio for Mafia 2 weapons and references The Old Country’s game director, Alex Cox, who has called the game a “soft reboot” and “the start of a new series of Mafia games.” You can also check out more details about upcoming titles in a new video released by Mafia Game Videos on their YouTube channel:
According to previous rumors, the sequel to Mafia: The Old Country will reportedly be the prequel to Mafia 2, as it will be set in the same city—Empire Bay, in the 1920s–1930s. In that way, the release of Mafia 2 Remake makes sense, and the fans are hopeful the game will receive a massive visual upgrade and even some story expansion or new content, similar to Mafia: The Definitive Edition, the remake of Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven, which was released back in 2020.
For now, Hangar 13 hasn’t announced the fact of Mafia 2 Remake’s development, so take this report with a grain of salt.
