Rockstar Games President Sam Houser Reportedly Cancelled Big GQ Interview

Ahead of next month's release of GTA 6, the most anticipated title of the year, Rockstar Games has been sharing more and more details about the project, from new screenshots to interviews with developers and studio leadership. Speaking of executive interviews, one that seemed like a genuine coup isn't happening after all.

The point is, Sam Houser, the president of Rockstar Games, was set to give his first public interview since 2010, this time with GQ – but that interview has now been canceled. As revealed by RockstarINTEL, citing GQ writer Sam White, who was slated to conduct it, he had spent four years trying to secure access to Houser before finally landing the interview this April. Unfortunately, Houser had to pull out due to “mostly for personal reasons.”

Given the timing with GTA 6's release, an interview like this would've been a genuinely big deal, especially considering how rarely Sam Houser speaks publicly. It likely would've offered real insight into the game's development and revealed some fascinating details, but that's not happening now.

That said, this hasn't slowed down Rockstar's broader rollout of GTA 6 details. This week, the studio confirmed the game's Mature (17+) rating, with more detail surfacing on the PEGI website. There's also been the usual round of leaks: rumors about the plot, including specific details on possible endings, have been circulating on 4chan, though as always, that should be taken with a grain of salt since none of it's confirmed.

Grand Theft Auto VI will release on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
