Marvel’s Wolverine Already Sold Almost 2 Million Copies

Earlier this week, Insomniac Games released a new PlayStation 5 exclusive: Marvel's Wolverine. The game has generally received positive reviews from both critics and players, but it has also proven to be something of a mixed bag. Nevertheless, just three days after its release, the game has managed to sell a decent number of copies.

According to Alinea Analytics' Rhys Elliott, Marvel's Wolverine has already sold nearly 2 million copies (or, more precisely, 1.9 million, with 1 million of those being digital pre-orders), despite a mixed reception from both players and critics. Elliott shared this information on his X page, where he also revealed additional details. The game has reportedly already surpassed the sales of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach on PlayStation 5 and has become the fastest-selling PlayStation Studios release of 2026. Marvel's Wolverine has generated approximately $130 million in revenue in the three days since its release, which can be considered a very successful result.

Apparently, Marvel’s Wolverine sold almost 2 million in the first 3 days according to Alinea Analytics.

For comparison, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 sold more than 2.5 million copies in its first 24 hours.

The game still has to sell 6 million to be profitable according to leaked documents, so all that money in marketing and the marvel brand did all the work because almost nobody liked the game.

As user X notes above, based on leaked documents, Marvel's Wolverine needs to sell at least 6 million copies to meet Sony's expectations and ensure that Insomniac continues to develop its own Marvel universe. Given that it took the game just three days to reach one-third of that target, this doesn’t seem like a particularly difficult feat.

Marvel's Wolverine currently has a score of 77 on Metacritic, making it the lowest-rated PlayStation Studios title after Concord.
