GTA 6 Will Be the Same Emotional, as Red Dead Redemption 2

No one doubts that GTA 6, set to be released this November on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, will be one of the most ambitious games in history and likely one of the best open-world action games. Fans are also hoping the game will take a step forward compared to Red Dead Redemption 2—Rockstar Games’ previous project, which set the bar very high—and, as is well known, many of the game’s mechanics will carry over to GTA 6, such as the morality system and interactions with NPCs.

Despite this, some players doubt that GTA 6 will be able to match Red Dead Redemption 2 in terms of story and emotional impact. But in a recent interview with TroisCouleurs, Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson stated the studio intends to develop the relationship between Jason and Lucia, the main characters of GTA 6, in a way that builds the same emotional connection as the audience had with Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption 2. And given that the couple’s relationship will play a central role not only in the story but also in the gameplay, it will be interesting to see how this is implemented. You can check out more details from Rob Nelson on this topic below:

“We wanted to take the depth that we were able to add into the world of Red Dead Redemption 2 and the ability to interact with the world in a much more significant way but then also this sort of emotional connection that people end up having with Arthur. Is there a way that we bring that into GTA, and how could we do it? So, we had played around with different ideas, we knew we wanted to come back and continue playing with the idea of multiple protagonists. We thought about different options but ultimately wanted to try a duo, a partnership of some kind. If they’re in relationship, or have the potential to be in relationship, what does that feel like? So it’s a couple, it’s Bonnie and Clyde. And then as soon as we thought about it, it was obvious. It became the very clear choice for us and felt like something we had to try.”

Another emotional element is that players themselves will be able to influence the relationship between Jason and Lucia in GTA 6. It has been confirmed that a romantic relationship between the characters is not mandatory, but at the same time, if you do start one, it can end for various reasons—though Jason and Lucia will still be partners in the game, carrying out various missions and heists together.

For his part, in a recent interview, Stephen Root confirmed he is part of the cast of GTA 6, though he did not reveal which character he plays. Early rumors suggested he would play Brian Heder, a drug courier and Jason’s friend.

For now, you can also find out everything we know about GTA 6 so far—the story, gameplay, map, open world, platforms, and more - as well as everything about GTA 6 pre-order details: price, bonuses, exact time, and Ultimate Edition.
