Rockstar Upgraded 24-Hour Cycle in GTA 6—It Now Lasts 144 Minutes

Between the various leaked GTA 6 gameplay clips, made possible by hacker Cyberleek, fans have already learned about a number of new features: refueling cars, more advanced NPC interactions, being able to shoot a basketball into a hoop, a six-star wanted system, and improvements to graphics and draw distance. A new leak has now revealed another notable detail.

A few hours ago, Cyberleek posted a seventh GTA 6 gameplay clip, and Reddit users have since concluded that the full day-night cycle in the game will run longer than in previous Rockstar titles. Specifically, redditor Miserable-Price-7484 pointed out that one in-game minute equals six real-world seconds, meaning the full cycle works out to roughly 144 minutes. By comparison, GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 both run on a 48-minute cycle.

As you can see 1 Minute to pass takes 6 seconds now instead of the usual 2 since IV and VWhich means

Fans had already been debating this on Reddit last month, with many assuming 60 or 90 minutes would be plenty. With a 144-minute cycle instead, players will get considerably more time to explore Vice City and its surroundings across different times of day, adding another layer of realism to the game.

As for other GTA 6 news, a new BBC report suggests the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look presentation, streaming on Netflix August 27, will run around 30 minutes. That points to a fairly detailed breakdown of the game and the first official gameplay demo, something Rockstar will likely need if it wants to shift the conversation away from Cyberleek's leaks.
