GTA 6 Fans Are Discussing How Much 24-Hour Cycle Should Last in Game

After pre-orders for GTA 6 have finally been available at the end of last month, fans were expecting Rockstar Games to reveal new details about their upcoming project, including a new trailer. However, it didn’t happen, but players continue to actively discuss a lot of possible GTA 6 gameplay aspects.

A Reddit user named ZionistControlUSA started a discussion about the in-game day-night cycle. As mentioned by him, the full cycle in GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 lasts 48 minutes of real time, and the user thinks it might not be enough for GTA 6. They argue that players may need more time to fully enjoy the atmosphere of Vice City at specific times of day or evening. ZionistControlUSA suggests extending the in-game day-night cycle to 60 or even 90 minutes would be a great option. However, some other users disagree, believing that such a change could make the game feel unnecessarily drawn out.

Anyone else hope GTA 6 slows down the day night cycle? 48 minutes feels way too fast for immersion

Hey everyone,

With GTA 6 coming up, one thing I’ve been thinking about a lot is how long the in game days are.

In GTA 5 and RDR2, a full 24 hour cycle takes exactly 48 minutes of real time. While that worked fine for a long time, when I’m actually immersed in the world, just driving around or exploring details, the days feel like they fly by at warp speed. You look up and suddenly it’s night time again, and a beautiful sunrise lasts for all of 45 seconds.

With Leonida looking absolutely massive and incredibly detailed, I really hope Rockstar considers slowing things down. Even bumping it up to 60 or 90 minutes for a full day would give the world so much more time to breathe. It would make catching a sunset on the beach or cruising down the highway during the afternoon feel way more atmospheric.

How do you all feel about the current 48 minute cycle? Do you want Rockstar to keep it as is, or are you hoping for longer days in GTA 6?

Regardless, Rockstar Games has not yet commented on any details about the in-game day and night cycle in GTA 6. Despite the lack of new information, according to recent information from Brazilian retailers, we have received some new insights about the game. Specifically, reports indicate that the open world in GTA 6 will be the largest ever seen in a Rockstar Games title. Jason and Lucia will have unique abilities, and players will be able to switch between the characters at any point during the game. Additionally, the social media system will play a significant role in gameplay, allowing the protagonists to stay informed about events happening both within Vice City and beyond.
