Half-Life 3’s First Screenshot Reportedly Leaked - But Fans Are Doubtful About Its Accuracy

Rumors and leaks about Half-Life 3 often come with claims that the game is in active development and will be announced soon, but these sources rarely reference any official confirmations or actually have a confirmation. However, it has been uncommon to see alleged footage of Half-Life 3—a screenshot or even a video. Well, it seems, with one such case recently emerging.

Reddit users have noticed and are actively discussing a leak that appears to be a possible screenshot from Half-Life 3, which originally appeared on 4chan as well as on a Discord channel. The image shows a wooded area that might look similar to White Forest from Half-Life 2: Episode Two. We can also see Eli Vance, and his design is almost the same as Half-Life: Alyx. Additionally, the main character is holding a pistol gun, and in the distance, there’s an unusual blue object hovering in the sky. Perhaps the most intriguing detail is the tiny text in the lower-left screenshot’s corner: "HLX v1.4. LOCFILESTEST," along with the date July 4, 2026.

guys, i was lurking in Gabe Follower's discord server on this Friday i guess. Some random user posted weird screenshot. unfortunately i didn't grab it in time cuz it got deleted almost instantly idk if by mods or the OP themselves

but then the same account posted two more screenshots and i was quick enough to save them this time. they got nuked right after too. the first one that i missed was basically the same scene but a slightly different angle gordon was standing a bit further back than in the second one and pretty sure those were the only differences

Is this AI? Or has anyone seen this scene anywhere on youtube or mod??

Nevertheless, a lot of gamers doubt that this is a screenshot from Half-Life 3, as it clearly shows significant features of Unreal Engine 5 and the obvious use of AI elements. However, it’s also important to remember that earlier, one of Valve’s insiders, Tyler McVicker, stated that HLX (the presumed title for Half-Life 3) is indeed in the final stages of development, and currently, Valve is focused on thoroughly polishing the game and bringing the graphics up to the highest standard.
