Half-Life 3 Is Reportedly Titled Half-Life X and Rumored to Be "Almost Completed"

Rumors about Half-Life 3 seem never to die down, even though Valve has never given the slightest hint over the years that a third installment might actually be in development—perhaps except the ending of Half-Life: Alyx, which theoretically lays the groundwork for the game. Nevertheless, this hasn't stopped numerous insiders from regularly claiming that Half-Life 3 does exist and, moreover, that the game is nearly finished.

This is exactly what renowned Valve insider Tyler McVicker stated during a recent Twitch stream. He claims that HLX—the rumored title of the game—is in the final stages of development. Throughout his talk, he repeatedly mentions that Valve only has a bit of polishing left to do on the project. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard that Half-Life X is in advanced development, but until Valve officially confirms it, such insider reports should be taken as mere rumors.

According to Tyler McVicker, Valve’s rumored HLX project appears to be in its final stages of development.

During a recent livestream, McVicker said the game is “almost completed,” while noting that Valve may still be reworking some graphical elements before release.

As with all HLX information, this is still speculation and has not been officially confirmed by Valve.

Earlier this month, Valve revealed the pricing for their upcoming hybrid console and PC—the Steam Machine. Early rumors suggested that Half-Life 3 might be an exclusive for this platform, potentially launching around the same time as the device. Well, half the battle is done; now we just have to wait for the official announcement of Half-Life 3 (HLX), assuming the game really exists and, as sources claim, is in its final stages of development.
