Riot Games Announces End of Active Development for 2XKO at the End of 2026
Riot Games has officially announced the upcoming conclusion of support for 2XKO. Active development of the League of Legends universe fighting game will end in December 2026.
The main reason behind shutting down the project is low player retention. Studio representatives noted that the game failed to build and maintain a large enough active player base to ensure long-term viability.
Early access for 2XKO launched on PC on October 7, 2025, followed by the full release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on January 20, 2026, alongside the start of Season 1.
Alongside the announcement, the developers published an extensive blog post on the official website riotgames.com, detailing future plans for the title and the release schedule for upcoming patches. In September, with the rollout of Patch 1.3.1, the studio will unlock all champions for every player and convert cosmetic items into bundles purchasable with in-game currency. Before the end of the year, Lux and Samira will join the roster, the 2XKO Competitive Series will conclude in November, and a final bug-fix patch will be released in December.
2XKO servers will remain online beyond 2026, keeping the game fully playable across all platforms. In addition, Riot Games will issue full refunds for in-game microtransactions and KO Points purchases made prior to August 20, 2026.
