Marvel Rivals Adds Hellfire Gala Formalwear for Cyclops, Phoenix, and Daredevil

NetEase pushed a Marvel Rivals patch on August 20 built around three Hellfire Gala-inspired skins, with no server downtime required. The official patch notes list Cyclops' Legendary Elegant Eye Bundle and Phoenix's Epic Viridian Vogue Bundle as limited items running from August 21 through September 18, alongside a permanent Daredevil Attorney at Law Bundle available starting August 20.

Cyclops trades his tactical gear for a tailored formal look, and Phoenix's design pulls from Jean Grey's Hellfire Gala comic appearances, according to games.gg's coverage of the patch, which also notes Daredevil's bundle draws from his 2014 comic run. Cyclops and Phoenix share an emote when both skins are equipped together, a rare instance of coordinated cosmetics in a game where most skins work as solo purchases.

The patch fixes two hero-specific bugs rather than touching any hero's stats or abilities. Lady Loki's lower-body animations no longer contort during Villain's Illusion while using the Hela Team-Up ability, and Hela can no longer get stuck in place after casting Astral Flock while rising through Thoth's Wrath zones on Wakanda maps.

The fixes extend a cleanup pattern NetEase started after Season 9 launched. A July 16 patch trimmed visual effects across more than 20 team-up ability combinations after players complained the game had grown "too loud to read" in team fights, citing eye strain and trouble tracking combat.

I think a cosmetic-only patch this deep into a season signals NetEase considers the current hero roster settled for now. I'd read the shared Cyclops-Phoenix emote as a small bet that pairing skins can move more bundles than selling them separately, since it gives players playing the same couple a reason to buy both.

Neither bundle touches gameplay, so the patch matters more to collectors than to anyone chasing a competitive edge this week.
