First GTA 6 Previews Will Appear on August 27—When ‘An Extended Look’ Premieres on Netflix

Following this month's announcement of Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, the game's new footage presentation set for Netflix on August 27, all eyes had turned to that event. However, few could have guessed that a week earlier there would be a massive GTA 6 leak, revealing the first gameplay footage of the most anticipated game of 2026.

As is well known, a hacker going by Cyberleek released four GTA 6 gameplay clips featuring Jason, along with sharing what's claimed to be the game's official map. Despite Take-Two's repeated efforts to get the leaked material taken down, plenty of it has already spread across social media. Even so, the Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look presentation hasn't been canceled or delayed. According to a new MP1st report, the first press previews of GTA 6 are expected to land the same day as the presentation. The outlet also reports that journalists attended a special Rockstar event last month when they got a look at the game, though the studio kept it to a demonstration only, without letting the press try it hands-on.

It's a bit ironic that the first "mini-preview" based on the recent leaks came from PC Gamer. The media stated that the gameplay didn't feel especially spectacular and suggested that if An Extended Look fails to impress, expectations for the game could drop significantly. That said, it's worth remembering the leaked footage reflects an early build of GTA 6, something multiple insiders have already confirmed, and the upcoming presentation will likely show the game in a more current, polished state.
