New Rumor Says The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel Will Release In 2028
This week, Xbox head Asha Sharma delighted every fan of The Elder Scrolls franchise, especially those eagerly awaiting the sixth installment, announced over eight years ago at E3. She claimed not only to have watched a live playthrough of the game, but that TES VI looks “incredible,” with a story she called “even greater.” She also teased that the game's subtitle has eight letters, sending fans into a frenzy of theories, and it looks like they may have landed on an answer.
Following Sharma's comments, along with a response from Bethesda Game Studios confirming the eight-letter subtitle, fans have started to believe the game will be called Sentinel. That lines up with rumors placing the game in Hammerfell, whose capital is Sentinel. The idea reportedly traces back to hints dropped during the Starfield presentation in 2023, and former Bethesda developer Michael Kirkbride has also lent some weight to the theory.
Meanwhile, YouTuber EpicNate, citing sources within Bethesda, posted a 40-minute video on his channel dedicated to The Elder Scrolls VI, also claiming the game is titled Sentinel and targeting a 2028 release. This should obviously be treated as a rumor for now, but it adds another piece to the puzzle.
Bethesda Game Studios hasn't commented on rumors surrounding The Elder Scrolls VI's release date, potential title, or gameplay details. Last month, the studio stated TES VI remains its top priority, so hopefully development is going well and some fresh info arrives before the year's out.
The Elder Scrolls VI is in development for PC and Xbox Series X/S. The official release date is currently unknown.
