Mafia: The Definitive Edition Is Rumored to Release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S Soon

Later this week, Mafia: The Old Country, released last year, gets a new DLC titled Man of Honor. Fans of the original are sure to be thrilled, since the expansion brings back Ennio Salieri, one of the central characters from Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven and its remake, Mafia: Definitive Edition. Meanwhile, this might not be the only piece of good news coming for series fans soon.

It's recently come out that Mafia: Definitive Edition could be heading to current-gen consoles, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. That surfaced through an ESRB listing, where the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions received a Mature 17+ rating, citing blood, drug references, intense violence, sexual themes, and strong language. The game will likely support 4K and 60 FPS, along with other technical upgrades, though Hangar 13 and 2K haven't made any official statement yet.

Mafia: Definitive Edition originally launched in 2020, earning praise from both players and critics for staying true to the original's spirit while expanding the story and delivering beautifully updated visuals. As for Man of Honor, the new Mafia: The Old Country DLC, it arrives August 14. The developers revealed the first gameplay footage last week and shared some details: the expansion is set in Sicily in 1905, with Enzo Favara already part of the Torrisi family. Ennio Salieri is finally freed from prison, and Enzo helps him rebuild his reputation through a series of jobs. Man of Honor adds two new story chapters, various challenges, and new weapons, outfits, vehicles, and horses.

Hangar 13 is also reportedly working on a new Mafia entry that, according to rumors, will take players to Empire Bay, the setting from the second installment, serving as a full sequel to The Old Country. Mafia 2 is also claimed to be getting a remake, likely built on Unreal Engine 5. It's also recently surfaced that the next Mafia entry might include multiplayer, meaning Man of Honor and the Mafia: Definitive Edition console port are just a small taste of what's coming for the franchise.
