Tomb Raider: Catalyst Released Window Revealed by Embracer Group

Next February, Crystal Dynamics will release a new game in the Tomb Raider series entitled Legacy of Atlantis - it is both a remake of the original 1996 game and a reimagining of the entire franchise. Meanwhile, the studio is developing Tomb Raider: Catalyst—the next main installment in the series, which, it has been revealed, will continue the story from 2008’s Tomb Raider: Underworld.

Unlike Legacy of Atlantis, not much is known about Tomb Raider: Catalyst, including its release date. For its part, Embracer Group, the parent company of Crystal Dynamics, has decided to shed some light on the matter by publishing a new financial report. It states that Catalyst is scheduled for release in the 2027/28 financial year—that is, between April 2027 and March 2028. Additionally, a new installment of Kingdom Come from Warhorse Studios and Darksiders 4 from Gunfire Games are also set to be released during this period, as you can check out below:

“In FY 2027/28, we expect the release of the next game in the Kingdom Come franchise from Warhorse Studios, Darksiders 4 from Gunfire Games, as well as the externally published Tomb Raider: Catalyst from Crystal Dynamics along with Flying Wild Hog and Eidos Montréal.”

Until very recently, Amazon Games had fans somewhat confused with their comments regarding Tomb Raider: Catalyst's release window. Initially, studio head Jeffrey Gattis stated that the game had reportedly been pushed back to 2028, which made perfect sense given that Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis had been delayed until 2027, but shortly afterward, Amazon Games reps claimed that they did not yet have a specific release date for Tomb Raider: Catalyst. Be that as it may, thanks to Embracer’s financial report, fans now have a clearer picture. Incidentally, the company also confirmed that sales of the Gothic 1 Remake, released this June, have exceeded their expectations.

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis will release on February 12, 2027, for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5. Tomb Raider: Catalyst's exact release date is currently unknown.
