Warner Bros. Teases Hogwarts Legacy 2 Official Announcement Could Happen Soon

One of the many confirmed-but-unannounced projects is the Hogwarts Legacy sequel, following up on the original 2023 game. News that work was underway on a second installment first surfaced back in September 2024, and rumors have kept trickling in ever since. Despite the lull, Warner Bros. recently teased again that an official announcement could be coming soon.

Last week, Warner Bros. released its Q2 2026 financial report, which references a second Hogwarts Legacy installment. As user PotterWorldW pointed out, the game appears on WB Games' list of upcoming projects, suggesting an official announcement isn't far off. The source also points to recent job postings at Avalanche Software that seem to hint at a full multiplayer mode. You can check out that information below:

HOGWARTS LEGACY 2 IS OFFICIALLY IN THE WORKS

Warner Bros. Discovery has now directly referenced “the second installment of Hogwarts Legacy” in its latest shareholder report, confirming the sequel is part of WB Games’ upcoming pipeline.

At the same time, new Avalanche Software job listings are giving us our first clues about what the studio is building next.

Avalanche is currently recruiting developers for a new online multiplayer RPG, while another listing references repeatable open-world activities designed to scale from a few players to many.

Previous Avalanche recruitment has also pointed towards online systems such as matchmaking, multiplayer infrastructure and persistent player data.

The big question is whether these multiplayer features are being developed for Hogwarts Legacy 2, or whether Avalanche has a separate Wizarding World multiplayer game in development.

For now, WB has confirmed Hogwarts Legacy is getting a second installment, but multiplayer has NOT been officially confirmed for the sequel.

It's still unclear when Hogwarts Legacy 2 might get its official reveal, but with Gamescom 2026 coming up this month, that's certainly one possibility. However, The Game Awards, confirmed this week for December 10, feels like the more likely venue, especially with the Harry Potter HBO series also premiering that month—it would make sense for Warner Bros. to lean into December for maximum franchise promotion.

Earlier rumors suggested Hogwarts Legacy 2 will let players play Quidditch, something missing from the original, and will let them visit such iconic spots from the Harry Potter films as Privet Drive, Diagon Alley, and more streets of London. There's also been speculation the HBO series' story could tie into the game in some way.
