Ubisoft Officially Announced New Ghost Recon Video Game and Released a Definitive Edition for Wildlands

To mark the 25th anniversary of the Ghost Recon franchise, Ubisoft has made several significant announcements regarding the franchise’s future. In addition to the update for Ghost Recon Wildlands for current-generation consoles—which had already been the subject of rumors —the studio has finally confirmed that a new installment is in development and has also announced further surprises for players.

The company has not revealed the title of the new Ghost Recon title, previously known as Project OVR, but has confirmed that it has been in development for some time. Alongside this, the studio has announced Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Insider Programme. This will allow selected players to take part in closed beta tests of the upcoming game and help the developers shape the project. You can register now by selecting your platform. Unfortunately, no further details about the new Ghost Recon video game are known at this stage.

But the surprises didn’t end there. Ubisoft has also announced a free giveaway of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier Standard Edition, which is already available on Ubisoft Connect and will run until August 13.

It’s certainly pleasing that Ubisoft has decided to make a number of announcements to mark the 25th anniversary of Ghost Recon—and the official confirmation of a brand-new installment was particularly welcome. Although, according to early reports, the game has already suffered setbacks during development and a number of features have been cut, this offers further hope that the game will be released in the coming years and that the studio will listen to the players taking part in its closed beta tests.
