Apex Legends Turns E-District Into Night City for a Cyberpunk Crossover Timed Right Before Edgerunners 2

Respawn and EA confirmed the Apex Legends x Cyberpunk Event will run from July 14 to August 4, turning the E-District map area into a version of Night City with neon skyboxes and holographic koi drifting overhead. Eight Legend skins split the crossover between two different Cyberpunk properties. Lucy, David, and Rebecca from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners map to Axle, Sparrow, and Rampart, while Female V, Male V, Panam, Lizzy Wizzy, and Royce from the base 2077 game map to Lifeline, Crypto, Loba, Ash, and Gibraltar, according to CGMagazine's breakdown.

The event adds eight weapon skins across the Wingman, Charge Rifle, Mastiff, L-STAR, P2020, RE-45, R-301, and Kraber, plus a Mythic Skippy Alternator that lets players switch between two named modes. The reward shop carries an Arasaka Flight Protocol Valkyrie skin and a Kang-Tao Specter Mirage skin, and EA is selling Nessie Youtooz plushies in Lucy and Rebecca variants, with preorders open July 15 through August 18.

The timing lines up with something bigger than a skin drop. Netflix and Studio Trigger confirmed Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 for a Fall 2026 release at Anime Expo 2026, a 10-episode season built around new characters rather than David Martinez. That puts Apex's event roughly two to three months ahead of the premiere.

The first Edgerunners season gives CD Projekt a real reason to run that play again. Cyberpunk 2077's Steam concurrent player count nearly tripled in a month after the anime hit Netflix in September 2022, climbing from 13,407 to 36,273 and pushing the game past Elden Ring as Steam's most-played single-player title. CD Projekt's revenue jumped 70% in the same stretch.

I think Apex is the test run for that exact effect on someone else's audience this time. A battle royale crossover can't move Cyberpunk 2077 sales the way a Netflix premiere did, but it puts David and Lucy in front of tens of millions of Apex players months before Edgerunners 2 needs them to already know who these characters are. I'd bet CD Projekt cares more about that awareness than about how many Mirage skins sell.
