Gothic 1 Remake Locks Two-Handed Training Behind a Hidden Requirement
Two-handed weapons are among the strongest combat options in Gothic 1 Remake. They deal damage to multiple enemies with a single swing and have excellent reach, so it's no surprise that many players want to build around them from the very beginning. However, there's one important catch you should know before investing your Learning Points.
Unlike one-handed weapon trainers, who are available almost from the start of the game, two-handed weapon trainers don't become available until Chapter 3. Which trainer you can learn from depends on the camp you've joined:
- Old Camp — Thorus
- New Camp — General Lee
- Swamp Camp — Cor Angar

Unfortunately, that's not the only requirement. As the game currently works, you must fully master one-handed weapons before you can start training two-handed weapons. At least that's the case in the current version of the game, although it could be changed in a future patch.
I've seen many players intentionally avoid investing any Learning Points into one-handed weapons, saving them for two-handed training later on. They struggled through the first three chapters because without weapon mastery, you can't perform proper combos or parries. And just imagine their anger when they found out they’d have to level up "One-Handed" anyway. That’s some serious trolling by the developers.
