Job Listings Hints Cyberpunk 2 Will Feature a Co-op Mode

Cyberpunk 2 is one of several games currently in active development by CD Projekt RED. And while details about this highly anticipated project are largely lacking, a new report is fueling interest with the possibility the game will feature some multiplayer elements.

Users have discovered the Polish studio is currently hiring for a “Lead Quest Programmer” position. Interestingly, the list of requirements states candidates must have experience with network technologies, including client-server synchronization. We’ve heard before that Cyberpunk 2 will include multiplayer, but this suggests the story campaign will likely be playable in co-op mode. However, for now, this is nothing more than speculation.

The role in job listing requires someone with an understanding of "multiplayer network architecture and client-server," hinting at quests designed for real-time multiplayer. While the first game was strictly single-player, this new listing points to a shift that could bring multiplayer elements right at launch.

Cyberpunk 2 is believed to still be in the early stages of development, and the game does not yet have an approximate release date. There is a possibility the project is aiming for a release on the next generation of consoles. Other known details include a new Chicago-style city, as well as the opportunity to revisit Night City from the original title.

As for Cyberpunk 2077, the game received an update this month to coincide with the release of The Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2 on Netflix. The update added content from the series to the game, including new quests, a combat style, and various other new features. Apparently, there are also elements from another CD Projekt RED game— The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The protagonist can wield Geralt’s sword as well as certain pieces of clothing.
