CD Projekt RED Reveals the Details of Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5

CD Projekt RED has published the full list of changes in Cyberpunk 2077’s Edgerunners 2 Update (2.5). The update comes out today, October 22, on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, while Nintendo Switch 2 and Mac players will have to wait a few more days.

The patch is timed to the Netflix premiere of the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 anime and adds content from the new series to the game. But that’s not all: players are also getting new quests, a new combat style, mods on consoles, and plenty of other improvements.

The biggest anime-related addition is Clampdown, a side quest set before the events of Edgerunners 2. To unlock it, you need to complete “The Heist” and two gigs for Wakako, then wait for her message. During the quest, you can earn a five-piece gear set inspired by King, one of the new season’s main characters. The game also adds the HKGN 102.0 FM radio station with tracks from the anime.

Another major addition is dual-wielding. The new Double Trouble perk in the Cool tree, along with four auxiliary perks, lets V fire two Power pistols or revolvers at once.

You can also now change the look of your arm cyberware: Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, Monowire, and the Projectile Launch System. To do that, visit one of five Glamdoc shops, marked on the map with a spray paint icon. Each shop has its own intro scene with voiceover and a unique catalog of skins with customizable colors.

Besides Clampdown, the update adds two more story activities:

  • Welcome to Paradise – a quest in which V uncovers a mystery during a tour of Night City narrated by the city’s founder, Richard Night. It unlocks after completing “The Heist” and reaching Street Cred level 15.
  • 12 new Minor Arcana Tarot cards scattered around the city. They’re tied to an extension of the “Fool on the Hill” quest, and collecting them all earns a special reward.

Another long-awaited feature is cross-platform mod support through mod.io. You can now install mods straight from the in-game menu, not only on PC but also on PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S, and Mac. The developers call this a first step and promise to add more mods over time. Keep in mind that on consoles, you can’t earn achievements or trophies while playing from a modded save.

Update 2.5 proves once again that CD Projekt RED is in no hurry to drop support for Cyberpunk 2077, even though the studio has called previous patches the last one several times.

As a reminder, Paramount Pictures is also developing a Cyberpunk 2077 film, which, according to the developers, won’t be a direct adaptation of the game.
