NetEase confirmed Jubilee as Marvel Rivals' 52nd hero in an official reveal trailer published July 7, locking in the Strategist role that earlier leaks had only guessed at. The season itself now has a name, Season 9: The Mystery of Thebes, launching July 10 at 9 AM UTC.

The trailer fills in the story the datamined files couldn't. A "Timestream Entanglement" traps Jubilee's son, Shogo, in dragon form, and she strikes a deal with Apocalypse in Thebes to save him. In exchange, she becomes his Horseman of Famine. That backstory ties her into the season's main plot instead of leaving her as a side character riding along on a Season 9 reskin.

Her confirmed kit matches the support read from the leaks but goes further. NetEase describes her generating "bursts of pyrotechnic plasma" shaped into projectiles, combined with vampiric powers she can use on top of the fireworks. Beebom's breakdown of the reveal adds the specifics: an air jump with hover to dodge damage, healing bubbles for teammates, and an ultimate that knocks back multiple enemies at once. None of that appeared in the pre-reveal datamine.

The Hood's role as Vanguard checks out against the leak too, and NetEase added a detail the files didn't have: he fights with dual pistols and a sword. His cloning powers and demonic transformation stay unconfirmed, since NetEase held him back from this trailer. He arrives in the mid-season update in early August, not alongside Jubilee on July 10.

Thebes, the Egypt-set map tied to the Apocalypse storyline, now has an exact date: July 23, and Game Informer confirms it ships as a convoy map rather than the vague "later in July" the leaks suggested.

I think the Horseman of Famine twist is the real story here, not the role confirmation. The leaks got Jubilee's class right but missed that NetEase built an entire narrative reason for a fireworks mutant to end up healing teammates instead of blowing up enemies. I'd call that the difference between a datamine and an actual character reveal: one tells you what button she presses, the other tells you why she's on the battlefield at all.
