Pearl Abyss Releases Free Updates for Crimson Updates to Thank Fans

The developers at Pearl Abyss continue to delight Crimson Desert fans by releasing free weekly updates for the game. These updates not only introduce new content but also fix numerous bugs. In a recent interview, a studio representative admitted that all this effort is primarily driven by their dedication to the fans of one of the most exciting video games of 2026.

Recently, Will Powers, PR & Marketing Director at Pearl Abyss, gave a new interview to CG Mag, where he once again emphasized that the studio will continue releasing free updates for Crimson Desert for as long as necessary. They already have a development plan in place extending through September this year. According to Powers, it’s the close connection with the game's community—which has supported the developers since day one—that serves as the main motivation behind the studio’s commitment to maintaining their product. “A new IP selling five million copies in a month should be celebrated. There’s too many layoffs and studio closures, and bad news that I think that we all could benefit from spending some time around the good news.

This should be a celebration in general, because Pearl Abyss isn’t taking a victory lap in the sense of ‘All right, how can we sell more?’ It’s ‘How can we give more back to the community? We focus on what we can do to reward the players that have been there from day one and continue to make the game this living, breathing experience.”

Earlier, Will Powers teased that the upcoming DLC for Crimson Desert could impact the game in a way that changes it from what players currently know. However, details about the expansion and its release date remain unknown for now. Last week, Pearl Abyss also released Patch Notes Version 1.12.00, introducing new home customization options that greatly expand the available tools.

We should also keep in mind that Pearl Abyss is also working on their next title, DokeV, announced back in 2019. It's an open-world action-adventure video game featuring Dokebi—Korean folklore creatures that gain strength from people’s dreams and collide together on their adventures. The release date is currently unknown.
