Clockwork Revolution Confirmed to Be an Xbox Exclusive and Will Release in 2027

One of the standout highlights at the Xbox Games Showcase was Clockwork Revolution, originally announced at the same event three years ago. The developers from inXile Entertainment shared insights into the gameplay features, provided details about the main characters, and, most importantly, confirmed the game's status as an exclusive title.

The storyline of Clockwork Revolution revolves around characters who use a special device called the Chronometer to travel through time in order to influence the historical events of the city of Avalon. Their goal is to change various events and the fates of the characters involved. The catch, however, is that the game’s main villain, Lady Ironwood, also possesses a similar device and uses it for her own ambitions—to climb the political ladder. inXile Entertainment promises to deliver a unique political thriller blended with exciting action, with the time-travel element adding extra intensity to the overall plot development. According to the developers, the time travel mechanic using the Chronometer is not just a narrative element but a feature that significantly impacts gameplay and carries real consequences. For instance, when the protagonist uses the Chronometer, it affects not only the storyline but also the characters who assist him, with these changes immediately influencing gameplay, while some consequences may unfold later on. The studio also confirmed that the game’s release has been pushed back to 2027, and, like Gears of War: E-Day, it will be a full Xbox exclusive, with no release planned for PlayStation 5. Moreover, Microsoft has revealed that both projects are not temporary exclusives and will remain permanently available only on PC and Xbox consoles. Interestingly, the decision to cancel the PS5 version of Gears of War: E-Day was made at the last minute, and according to game journalist Jeff Grubb, the Sony version exists and is in a playable state.
