IO Interactive Announced Story Expansion and Year One Content for 007 First Light

IO Interactive could not bypass the main gaming event of the summer - Summer Game Fest, where attention was paid not only to the new mission in Hitman: World of Assassination featuring Wiz Khalifa but also to the studio's recent new project - 007 First Light.

First and foremost, the developers confirmed the release of the first story expansion for 007 First Light, which will bring Bawma back to the screens played by Lenny Kravitz, and also released a short teaser, which you can watch below. The release date of the add-on has not been disclosed yet, nor the price, so there is a possibility that it will be free.

Already after the conclusion of the Summer Game Fest, IO Interactive announced a plan for releasing content for 007 First Light for the coming year. It was announced that the game would receive a lot of new features, including new TacSim challenges, a new gadget, New Game+, photo mode, path tracing support, and all of this is completely free. In addition, the studio announced that 2.7 million copies of the game had been sold across all platforms in the first week.

Given the success of 007 First Light, it’s not surprising that IO Interactive decided to continue releasing updates for the game, and the title 'Year One' suggests that new content will await us in the following years as well. This is especially pleasing in light of recent news that Amazon may develop the next entry of 007 First Light without IO Interactive's involvement. Nevertheless, the company has already issued a statement teasing that the Hitman developers could return to create a sequel —but for now, this is only a matter of discussion.

The game is now available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5—the version for Nintendo Switch 2 will be available later in 2026.
