Amazon Teased IO Interactive Still May Develop Another Installment of 007 First Light

Released at the end of last month, 007 First Light from IO Interactive has become one of the main releases of this year. The studio managed to create, probably, the best James Bond game, filled with a huge number of impressive action scenes, but the project also receives high marks from critics and continues to show good sales.

But, despite the good news accompanying the game, some concerning news about the future of 007 First Light recently came from the James Bond franchise’s rights holders, Amazon - namely from the head of Amazon Games, Jeff Gattis. In one of his interviews, he teased that the new installment of 007 First Light, if it ever comes to light, might be developed not by IO Interactive but by an internal Amazon studio, which upset many players.

Apparently, the negative reaction made itself felt, as Amazon Game Studios issued a statement hinting that IO Interactive may continue to release future games of the franchise, as reported by VGC. You can check out this statement below:

“Amazon MGM holds the rights to any future James Bond video games but it’s still too early to discuss future projects.

We have a great relationship with IO Interactive and are proud of what we’ve accomplished together on 007 First Light. Our partners at IO will reveal more about 007 First Light in the near future and we’re looking forward to sharing what’s next.”

This statement gave fans hope that the future new installment, 007 First Light, could be developed again by IO Interactive, rather than by an internal studio of Amazon Games. Nevertheless, as was noted, it is still too early to talk about a potential sequel, despite the fact that the original game lays the groundwork for this, and its sales continue to grow.

But at the same time, it is also worth remembering that IO Interactive is working on their own projects, namely the online game Project Fantasy and a new installment of Hitman. Therefore, this could be another reason why the sequel 007 First Light might be developed by another studio or, in a positive case, may be released not soon.
