Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Survival Mode Returns With Major Gameplay Changes

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is bringing back one of its most memorable limited-time modes, as Survival Mode is officially returning to the Land of Dawn.

First introduced in 2018, Survival Mode offered a battle royale-inspired experience where squads fought to be the last team standing on a large-scale battlefield. The mode later returned in 2021 as Survival: Nexus, a version centered around Beatrix and her different weapon forms.

Now, Moonton is preparing a revamped version of Survival Mode with new mechanics, redesigned map features, and a more structured gameplay experience for both returning players and newcomers.

Release Timeline

According to the developers, the updated Survival Mode is being developed across several stages:

August 2025 – June 2026: Revamped Survival Mode design

July 2026: Advanced Server testing begins

September 2026: Release on the official MLBB server

A Redesigned Minoan Labyrinth Map

The new Survival Mode map will keep the overall style of the classic Minoan Labyrinth, but with a stronger focus on lore, zone identity, and battlefield variety. This time, the story will take players deeper into the hidden layers of the labyrinth.

The map will be divided into three major zones, each offering different monsters, terrain mechanics, and combat opportunities.

The Grassland zone will feature plenty of bushes, making it ideal for ambushes, surprise attacks, and close-range engagements. Fighters, Assassins, and Tanks are expected to perform well in this area.

The Lab Zone will include more structured roads, walls, and obstacles, with fewer bushes and clearer vision. Most monsters in this area will be ranged Mages, giving Marksman heroes more room to shine.

The Wilderness zone will focus on terrain-based gameplay, including traps, slowing swamps, and monsters with crowd-control abilities. Success in this area will rely heavily on positioning, kiting, and team coordination.

36 Players Across 12 Teams

Unlike the original version, the revamped Survival Mode will feature 12 teams of three players, bringing the total number of participants to 36.

The developers explained that this number should create enough action across the early, mid, and late stages of each match without making the battlefield feel chaotic from the very beginning. It also gives teams enough space to farm, gather resources, and prepare before major fights break out.

Randomized Spawn Points

The new version will replace fixed starting locations with 12 randomized preset spawn areas.

Each team will begin together at one of these locations, while the distance to nearby monsters will be balanced to ensure a fair start. Spawn zones will also have fewer bushes to reduce the chance of immediate ambushes, while walls will help guide early exploration.

New Evacuation System

One of the biggest additions is the Evacuation mechanic, which adds a new layer of strategy and team coordination.

Evacuation points will activate later in the match, either after the final boss is defeated or two minutes after that event. These points will allow teams to leave the battlefield together and secure their collected supplies.

There will be two types of evacuation points: intact points with a higher carrying limit and damaged points with a lower carrying limit. Up to two evacuation points can be active at the same time.

Once a teammate starts the evacuation process, nearby allies can leave together. Teams that successfully evacuate will receive a Power Boost at the start of the next match based on the supplies they carried out.

Match Results and Points

After each match ends, whether through elimination, timeout, or successful evacuation, players will be taken to a results screen.

This screen will show team points, kills, assists, equipment, and other key match information. Any supplies successfully carried out of the match will be automatically sold and converted into points.

Supplies Add More Depth to Matches

The revamped Survival Mode will also introduce a new Supplies system. Alongside equipment, players will collect supplies that can be carried out of the match and used to progress through the mode’s exclusive event.

Supplies can be earned by killing monsters, activating magic circles, or eliminating enemy players. Defeated players will drop all supplies except those stored in their safe box.

There are five supply tiers, ranging from basic items such as Rations and Simple Tool Kits to rare items like the Jade Horn and Eye of Foresight.

Each player’s inventory can hold eight supply items and one safe box item. However, Tier 5 supplies cannot be placed in the safe box, meaning players must survive and win fights to protect the most valuable loot.

Equipment and Loot Rules

Equipment will still play an important role in the mode. When monsters are defeated, they will drop equipment icons on the ground. Players can pick up these items, equip them, or drop them if they do not fit their build.

Dropped equipment will disappear after 30 seconds if left untouched, although the timer resets if another player picks it up and drops it again.

A More Tactical Survival Experience

The redesigned Survival Mode appears to be a major upgrade over earlier versions. The smaller 36-player format should give teams more breathing room, while the new zone system, supplies, evacuation mechanics, and resource management should make each match feel more strategic.

The addition of supplies also gives every fight more weight. Eliminations are no longer just about removing enemies from the map — they can directly affect progression, rewards, and final match results.

Overall, the revamped Survival Mode looks set to deliver a deeper and more team-focused battle royale experience when it arrives on the official Mobile Legends: Bang Bang server in September 2026.
