Pearl Abyss Shared Exciting Sales Figures for Crimson Desert

Last month, when Pearl Abyss announced that Crimson Desert officially sold 5 million copies, it was another indicator that the studio’s new RPG is a successful title. This milestone is actually a hard achievement for a new IP, especially considering the problematic start of Crimson Desert, which was accompanied by numerous technical problems.

Almost 2 months after the release, Pearl Abyss released several major updates for Crimson Desert, thanks to which the game got a second chance and now looks much more appealing and engaging. This could also not fail to affect the financial performance of the studio, and in the new quarterly report for 2026, Pearl Abyss shared that compared to last year, the company's revenue has grown 4 times and currently reached a figure of $220 million. At the same time, the studio's net profit increased to $106 million, and operating profit now stands at $142 million - a tremendous success for South Korean developers.

As for the financial performance of Crimson Desert itself, about 81% of revenue for the first quarter of 2026 came from the game, while it is noted that 76% of the player audience is from North America and Europe, and sales of the game on consoles and PC are almost evenly split, 50/50.

Such financial success of the game is actually not surprising: as a recent Forbes report shows, Pearl Abyss literally "overachieved" with Crimson Desert, since the promised content that was supposed to appear in the game as part of the roadmap for the next 3 months was essentially added to the game in 3 weeks. This helped the game improve, attract even more players, and subsequently become one of the biggest releases of 2026.

On May 11, Pearl Abyss also released a new update for Crimson Desert - Patch Notes Version 1.06.00. The main innovations here are the new Special Mounts and an ‘Extraction’ feature that allows players to recover materials used to refine equipment.

The studio is also working on their next title, DokeV, announced back in 2019. It's an open-world action-adventure video game featuring Dokebi—Korean folklore creatures that gain strength from people’s dreams and collide together on their adventures. The release date of the game is currently planned no earlier than 2027 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
