First Audio Teaser of Far Cry 7 Seemingly Leaked
It’s been a while since we saw Far Cry last time, as the latest installment, Far Cry 6, featuring Hollywood actor Giancarlo Esposito, was released by Ubisoft in 2021. Nevertheless, it’s been officially confirmed that the studio is developing new titles in Far Cry game series, but there might be some troubles during the process.
Specifically, during one of the episodes of Insider Gaming Weekly, gaming reporter Tom Henderson revealed that the franchise is currently “going through hell” and this is quite acceptable, considering Ubisoft's problems this year. Meanwhile, Ubisoft also hired Paul Rouau, who is the 'Game production Closer' in Far Cry crew, and this could indicate that Far Cry 7 is likely to be in an advanced or even final stage of development.
Although Ubisoft hasn’t given any comments about the upcoming seventh installment, leaker AgaiinTx, who last year revealed that Far Cry 7 is set in Alaska and will have a separate extraction mode, now shared seemingly the first teaser of the game. Nothing specific here—just an audio featuring the ticking of the clock, probably hinting at an upcoming full reveal of the game and lines of possible characters from the seventh entry.
In another post, which was published almost simultaneously with the Far Cry 7 audio teaser, an insider hinted that the game might be shown (or released) at the end of this year. If you look at the statistics, many games in the series were released in the fall, namely the following:
- Far Cry 2 – October 20, 2008
- Far Cry 3 – November 27, 2012
- Far Cry 4 – November 18, 2014
- Far Cry 6 – October 7, 2021
Does it mean Far Cry 7 will be released this autumn? We shall see. But, according to the abovementioned gaming insider Tom Henderson, Ubisoft is reportedly planning that the next project of the studio, which will be released after Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, will be a new installment of Ghost Recon. The remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will release on July 9 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
Besides a new video game, the TV series adaptation of Far Cry is in development. It will be produced by Noah Hawley (Alien: Earth) and will not adapt the stories from games.
