Until He’s 70: Capcom Is Teasing Leon S. Kennedy's Appearances in Future Resident Evil Games

Leon S. Kennedy is one of the most recognizable characters in the history of Resident Evil. After a break of several years, the character made a comeback this year in the ninth installment of Resident Evil, subtitled Requiem, where he joined Grace Ashcroft as the second protagonist.

Players were clearly delighted by the return of this slightly older character—whose appeal can easily be compared to that of a fine wine—and are hoping to see him again soon. Leon's voice actor, Nick Apostolides, had previously hinted at this as well, stating that Requiem was merely another chapter in the character's story, not the end.

We’ve also received a hint directly from Capcom that we’ll be seeing Leon S. Kennedy in Resident Evil games many more times. Moreover, Requiem director Kōshi Nakanishi has stated that even at the age of 70, he’ll still be popular and will continue to appear in games within the franchise, as you can check out his words from the recent interview with Eurogamer:

“It's not a cast iron rule that whenever we come up with a new game and we decide to release it here, that we have to exactly age everyone up to match it or anything like that. The team doesn't feel the need to replace with younger characters... we don't really think of it in those terms.

I mean, I think Leon is really appealing in his current form. And who knows, we could bring him back when he's 70, and I'm sure he'll still be a great character.”

We already know that Resident Evil Requiem will receive a story expansion, actually, even two, according to leaks, and it is rumored that Leon S. Kennedy will be one of the main characters there, alongside Alyssa Ashcroft. Plus, Capcom is already working on the tenth installment of Resident Evil, and one of the game series insiders revealed that we can expect Leon S. Kennedy to be there as well. According to the scooper Marcox, Leon will unite with Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine to fight Alex Mercer, the game’s villain.
