Battlefield Movie Adaptation Is Wanted By Some Big Film Studios

Briefly after the announcement of Call of Duty movie adaptation, directed by Peter Berg, there have been reports that the franchise's longtime rival, Battlefield, will also be adapted for the big screen. And it looks like some big movie studios are considering getting the adaptation in their hands.

It was initially revealed that the upcoming Battlefield movie will be directed by Christopher McQuarrie (Top Gun: Maverick, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning), and he will also serve as writer and producer. Moreover, Michael B. Jordan (Sinners, Black Panther) is also involved, though it is not mentioned whether he will be a cast member; now he’s only confirmed as a producer too.

Christopher McQuarrie himself was said to be negotiating with the studio’s representatives, with Apple and Sony named as potential producing studios, and now The Wrap reveals that some notable companies, including Warner Bros. Discovery, Amazon MGM Studios, Sony, Universal, and Netflix, are interested in making a Battlefield movie and have already submitted their bids. The negotiations are described as “the biggest bidding war of the year.”

There are currently no details on which game will be adapted into the big screen or whether it will be the adaptation of the exact game or a standalone story unrelated to the franchise's games. The start of production, more cast reveals, and the premiere are still not confirmed as well.

As for Battlefield 6, the latest game series in the franchise, recently Electronic Arts presented the game’s roadmap for 2026, which confirmed what new modes, maps, and more will appear in future updates.
