Gamers Are Not Satisfied with Starfield’s New DLC, Terran Armada

This month, Starfield has finally been released on PlayStation 5, but Bethesda Game Studios also released their biggest update so far for the game, Free Lanes, and a new DLC—Terran Armada.

And while the Free Lanes update prompted players to shower the developers with praise —and some are now even comparing the game to The Elder Scrolls because it has finally developed its own distinct identity—the situation is quite the opposite with the new DLC, Terran Armada.

According to SteamDB, Terran Armada DLC is currently having more than 56% negative reviews on Steam. Players are criticizing the newest add-on for its high price and, at the same time, the short duration of the expansion and the repetitive nature of the missions. According to players, the expansion isn’t worth the $10 price tag, considering that the first DLC for Starfield, Scattered Space, cost half as much when it was released. You can check out some of Steam users's reviews below:

“That's it? i understand this is only a $10 dlc, but the main enemy faction shouldn't be established as a huge galactic threat when the main quest can be finished in like 2 hours and there's a total of 6 named characters that you interact with. like the scale of this dlc is super off, the faction you fight for is comprised of 3 people and they operate out of a hidden room the size of a new york city apartment behind a bar. it's all so short and so small, it feels like the main enemy faction that the whole dlc is named after is just a total joke.

Basically, it's more starfield; poorly written and full of missed opportunities. only get this is you really like starfield and/or really want the new modifications. absolutely no point in getting it otherwise.”

“Not very good and nowhere near worth the wait for such a small dlc that just amounts to an excuse to force us into the new cruise mode which is in itself not that exciting, and also broken if you want to use the star map to navigate, ya know, THE STARS. this game sucks and has none of what made the earlier games special, i love going light years away and seeing the same illicit surgery center multiple time in a row in the WE FIXED POI REPEAT update go eat a frozen hot dog bsg.”

“This DLC sucks so far... The game requires you to do the same busy work of destroying a big ship a dozen of times as part of the main mission. It's just like the base game's main mission "concept".

Additionally, you now have a new way of traversing the universe, which is just as boring and controls just as badly as the existing jump mechanics. I normally love having proper ways of getting around without a game relying on fast travel points, but here, I wish you could just fast travel via a short loading time every where and not have to deal with this jank...”

Free Lanes and Terran Armana are not the last updates for Starfield, as Bethesda confirmed the studio will continue to develop the game in the coming years.
