The Next Assassin’s Creed Game Rumored to Take Place in Aztec Empire

The future of Assassin’s Creed, perhaps Ubisoft’s biggest franchise at the moment, looks... anxious. Over the last week it’s been revealed Ubisoft cancelled two mobile Assassin’s Creed games, alongside Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake and three more unannounced titles. Moreover, Assassin’s Creed Codename League, the multiplayer mode for last year’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows, has been ultimately abandoned, and the unannounced remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and the next big franchise title, Assassin’s Creed Hexe, still remain without a release date.

Nevertheless, it doesn’t mean Ubisoft is not working on future Assassin’s Creed titles, and the details of a potential new game have been revealed. According to X social media user, Zephryss, who is a proper Assassin’s Creed leaker and who previously revealed the news about Assassin’s Creed Codename League cancellation, the game series title after Hexe is expected to be Assassin’s Creed Nebula, set in the Aztec Empire, India, and the Mediterranean. The game was previously rumored to be in development, but it’s still not clear whether the game is still on the cards after Ubisoft’s recent restructuring.

“Assassin’s Creed Nebula is rumored to be the next mainline Assassin’s Creed game after Assassin’s Creed Hexe, set in the Aztec Empire, India, and the Mediterranean.

However, we haven’t received any news about it in a long time and we still don’t know whether it’s in active development after Ubisoft’s restructuring. This is one of my most anticipated settings for Assassin’s Creed and I really hope it’s still alive.”

As was mentioned above, Ubisoft is currently working on an Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag remake, which is reportedly called Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, and the next mainline Assassin’s Creed game, Assassin’s Creed Hexe, set during the Holy Roman Empire and announced back in September 2022.
